CHRISTIANS FOR COMICS WORKSHOP
Sling and Stone Comics LLC held its first ever “Christians for Comics Workshop” October 19th, 2024, in Katy Texas and it was great!
Children ages 7-12 met with me, author and illustrator Frank Johnson, where I showed them the process of writing and illustrating a comic book through the mind of a modern Christian. The students teamed up first to write a script.
Later, they used simple stick figures to create a storyboard, a simple rendering of the comic book. Parents also got involved in this creative process.
Viewing the completed panels was just as fun.
We spent time drawing more complex things together.
The students were each given a packet they could take home to help them continue their journey in creativity and comics.
I want to personally thank Adam and Lendora Johnson for their assistance and encouragement. I also thank the parents who took time out of their Saturday to bring the children to the workshop.
Students, continue to draw and develop your stories. I would love to see them.
